POLICE OFFICERS SHOT DURING PROTESTS, CIVILIANS KILLED

June 8th, 2020

More than a week of riots and mayhem following the death of George Floyd has led to violence against many, including police officers.

In Las Vegas, an officer is on life support after being shot during protests near Circus Circus, while a man was shot multiple times by police after they say he fired shots at the federal courthouse. In St. Louis, four officers were shot near the police headquarters. In Oakland, a federal law enforcement officer was killed and another officer was critically wounded. A cop was shot in Richmond and a vehicle was rammed through a crowd of officers in Buffalo.

Gruesome videos show business owners beaten while trying to protect their property and news crews attacked as they covered the chaos. Anarchists also took to the highways and attacked motorists in their cars. Deaths were reported in cities throughout America as violence grew from the protests.

In the nation’s Capitol, the Secret Service went into action to protect the White House, while the historic St. John's Episcopal Church was torched and neighborhoods such as Georgetown were attacked. National monuments such as the Lincoln Memorial were disgraced by graffiti and other vandalism. Firefighters are being hampered by protesters in responding to emergencies, including putting out fires in buildings that were occupied by people.

Mayor’s and governors have yet to take control of their leading President Trump to openly chastise them. If they don’t call out the National Guard to supplement local police to help quell the violence, the President said he will bring in the military.

“These thugs are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won't let that happen,” the President said. “It is time to stop watching the violence and to confront and stop it. Preventing reconciliation and driving us apart is the goal of radical groups. We cannot let them succeed.”=
